Board Prep
Board Prep is a comprehensive training program for young individuals who are interested in serving on non-profit boards. A major goal of Board Prep is to help narrow the leadership gap that exists within the nonprofit sector. Whether you are looking to join a board for the first time or increase your effectiveness on a current board, Board Prep will help you gain insight and skills to serve the non-profit world as a responsible board member.
Board Prep is a seven-session course running between September and November in Center City. Local non-profit experts volunteer their time and expertise to lead 2 hour sessions. Session topics include: Orientation/Overview of Board Service, Strategic Planning, Legal & Ethical Responsibility, Fundraising, Financial Management, and Public Policy/Advocacy. Past sessions have included dynamic leaders such as Howard Tucker of West Philadelphia Childcare Network; Fernando Chang-Muy; Laura Solomon, Esq; Dottie Schindlinger of Verve Internet Solutions; and Eric Fraint of Your Part-Time Controller.
All participants must submit an application, resume, and two letters of reference. If accepted into the program, there is a $125 for all sessions which includes light food and beverage. For questions or to request an applications please email the Leadership Development Committee.
"PYNL's Board Prep program is unique in that it offers young professionals the opportunity to meet senior leaders in the non-profit community, learn directly from their experience, and then immediately put into practice what has been learned. The program far surpassed my expectations!" - Phil Jodz, Assistant Vice President, Wachovia and Co-Chair, Friends of Please Touch Museum
